Nelson had a craving for a smoothie tonight. No reason to complain… it’s better than craving cookies or chips.
If you look at the picture, you might think he made this for…
…the good source of Niacin and Zinc, and the very good source of Dietary Fibre, Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Copper, Manganese and protein.
Nope! He made it because it tastes awesome! Don’t let the green colour fool you. I let it fool me until I gave it a try. OMG…this smoothie tastes like a nice cold dessert in a glass.
Seriously, I never thought I’d like smoothies, and certainly never one that looked so… well…so green. You see, I’m kind of picky and I don’t like to experiment with food (I’m not like Nelson at all in this regard), and I’m fussy about textures; but, I can’t write about something I haven’t tried.
Nelson insisted that this was delicious. I hate to admit he’s right… but he’s so right (this time–I don’t want this ‘being right’ thing to get to his head ;-).
This smoothie is smooth and it doesn’t taste at all like vegetables. I never expected ‘green’ to taste like this (does green have a taste?). I didn’t just take a sip–I poured myself a glass (after Nelson asked for his glass back).
I love that Nelson has embraced this smoothie trend. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of health fads/trends, but in this case, I know he’s making them because they taste great and there are so many benefits from the healthy ingredients. I appreciate that Nelson looks for ways to make healthy eating enjoyable. Normally I say, “If I love the taste, it’s probably not good for me”. But, I can honestly say that it can be tasty and healthy–and I like the sound of that.
I hope you’ll give green a try too–and enjoy this smoothie as much as we do.
