Mussels with White Wine, Butter and Garlic Sauce

This Mussels recipe is easy and so delicious, your family and guests will keep asking you to make it again! Don't forget the crust bread for the white wine, butter and garlic sauce.

Serves: 6 to 8 servings
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 7 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 4 vine-ripened tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 lbs mussels, washed and debearded
  • 1 cup of good white wine
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  1. Heat the butter on medium high, in a large, deep and wide pan.
  2. Once the butter is melted and hot, add the onions and garlic.
  3. Sauté until the onions are translucent.
  4. Add the tomatoes, salt and pepper.
  5. Stir and let cook for about 2 minutes.
  6. Add the mussels, wine and lemon juice.
  7. Turn the heat up to high, cover and let cook for 5 minutes or until all the muscles are open.
  8. Transfer all the mussels to a large serving dish or bowl.
  9. Pour the sauce (with tomatoes, onions and garlic) ingredients from the pan onto the plated mussels.
  10. Sprinkle the parsley over the mussels and serve hot.
  11. Enjoy!
Discard all muscles that don't open during the cooking/steaming process. These are not okay to eat and can make you sick.
