Bluicer? What’s a bluicer? (sponsored post)
The Bluicer is what happened when Breville’s blender and juicer got together and had a love child. Rumour has it the two small appliances dined in, then one thing led to another and the 3X Bluicer™ Pro was born. At least that’s how Liz describes it.
The 3X Bluicer™ Pro is a 2-in-1, all in wonder small appliance, and in true Breville style, there’s no compromise on quality. It’s well built, does an incredibly good job of juicing and blending, and it looks mighty nice on our kitchen counter, if I do say so myself.
Looking for a powerful blender that can chop through ice like it’s water? This is it! Looking for a high-end juicer that’s capable of drawing out maximum juice while leaving very little behind? This is it!
This appliance is incredibly versatile! Use the Bluicer to create fresh juices, smoothies, iced frappes, smoothie bowls, colourful cocktails, mouth-watering marinades, delicious dips, vibrant soups and so much more!
In this post, I’ll answer a few of the common questions I’ve been asked about smoothies.
Do juicers create unnecessary waste?
Not this one!
I have a buddy that owns a Breville stand-alone juicer and he raves about how great a job it does. Liz and I had been tainted from a past negative experience with a lesser-quality juicer, so while we trust our friend, we needed to see this for ourselves.
You see, years ago, we owned a cheap juicer, but the big joke became that what we saved on the machine, we lost ten-fold in the amount of fruit and veggies we needed to buy and use, just to get a measly glass of juice. So much of the fruit’s goodness went to waste as pulp– pulp that we could probably squeeze with our hands and get quite a bit more juice from. Not cool. Needless to say, we stopped juicing and gave the unit away at a garage sale.
Clearly all juicers are not the same. We are so pleased and impressed with how well the Breville bluicer (juicer) performs. It’s freaky how good it is.
How do you know a juicer is doing a good job? It’s simple. There should be very little leftover pulp and the pulp that’s there should be very dry. That’s exactly what we get with the Breville bluicer. That means we’re getting maximum nutrition from the fruits and vegetables we put through the machine, and we’re getting a good yield with a small quantity of food.
Can a diabetic drink smoothies?
I always recommend monitoring your blood sugar levels and checking with your doctor, or visiting a diabetes clinic before introducing new foods. What works for me may not work for you.
In my case, my sweetener for these smoothies was berries and a granny smith apple. So far, my body has dealt very well with both berries and apples–no blood-sugar spikes. I admit I was a little nervous about getting back into smoothies, but I just have to watch the ingredients I’m adding. My plan is to develop a good variety of recipes and test my blood with each one so that I can determine what works well for me. I can say that for me, this recipe posed no issue and the smoothie was super delicious. Winner!
Do smoothies take long to make?
No need to skip breakfast! This smoothie only takes a few minutes to prep. Then you can sip it slowly, or put it in a travel cup if you need to head out the door in a hurry! I’ll share my process so you can see how I set myself up for success.
I have a pretty consistent morning regiment. I don’t have time to waste, but I always make a quick, healthy, and delicious breakfast. And that doesn’t mean I have a lot of time, it’s just that I build in a little time and use that time wisely.
When I want a morning smoothie, my prep routine consists of washing and placing all the ingredients, except for the ice, frozen berries, and spinach for instance, on the counter before I go to bed. I also line the bluicer pulp container with a small compost bag to make cleanup even quicker.
In the morning, I drop all the blender ingredients in the blender jar, and I juice all the juicer ingredients (it takes only seconds). The juice goes straight into the blender jar and then I move up the blender jar, puree the green smoothy preset, and blend it perfectly. The whole process takes about 3 minutes. The extra large shoot means less chopping. I can even drop in a whole granny smith apple! Honestly, that’s less time than most breakfasts we can make and it’s an amazing, healthy, delicious meal in a glass.
And cleanup? Other than the base, all the bluicer parts are dishwasher safe. As soon as I pour my smoothies into my travel mug, I place all the parts in the dishwasher and leave for work. I’ve waited longer for a coffee and bagel at the drive thru. I’m not knocking anyone for grabbing breakfast at the drive thru, I just want to stress that it doesn’t take long to make a smoothie anytime, even during the morning rush before work.
Is this smoothie healthy for people wanting to make positive dietary changes?
You tell me… this one only has:

- potassium
- vitamin A

Yes! These are absolutely healthy beverages. And look at that beautiful colour. Fun!
Are you a believer?
Not everyone believes that healthy foods can be delicious, but don’t get trapped in that negative thinking! Even Liz, who doesn’t eat as many fruits and veggies as I do, is a believer in these smoothies. It’s pretty amazing how a bunch of nuts, fruits, and veggies can turn into a creamy, smooth and delicious beverage that will keep you feeling full for hours.
Don’t compromise. Have your healthy and your delicious together, and make today yummy!

Notes
- With our the 3X Bluicer™ Pro by Breville, we used the same appliance to juice and blend. We love this unit!
- Our recipe includes optional maple syrup. As a diabetic, I left out the maple syrup. But it does add a wonderful flavour to the smoothie if you’re okay with this sweet addition.
- Using the bluicer? Save a little extra cleaning time by adding a small compost bag to the back pulp container before juicing.
